CAD files supplied by client
We accept most all standard CAD files. It is not uncommon for CAD files to contain small errors that might end up undetected and need to be removed before we can proceed on to g-code for CNC (CAM file). It could be disconnected or broken lines that are not visible to the naked eye. We offer a FREE 15 MINUTE REVIEW / PROJECT to assess and fix files. Our program will quickly detect if or how many problems that we will need to deal with. After the 15 minute review we will contact you with the results and estimated time and rate to fix the files ready for CNC. Any changes to the design will incur an hourly charge.
PDF's and JPEG's
These are not CAD files and need to be converted into the proper file before it can be machined. This can be performed quickly for simple cutouts (2 1/2 D) and true 3D machining will depend on the complexity of the project. We will provide a free estimate of the time involved to create a usable file, with an hourly rate for any changes to the design.
Design
It is the responsibility of the client to inspect CAD drawings to their satisfaction and agree that what is drawn is what they want. We can provide PDF's and JPEG's of different views or the CAD file itself for review by the client. The written agreement must be confirmed before fabrication begins. For expensive materials please keep in mind that an option of cheaper materials can be made as prototype for confirming fit. This make sense especially for materials such as aluminum where not only is the material more costly but also is the machining. In some cases MDF, plywood or foam can be cut quickly for confirmation of fit.
Design changes
To go from computer design (CAD file) to fabrication an intermediate program must be written (CAM file) before the machining process can begin. Any change in the CAD design after approval by client of the previous CAD file incur a charge to re-write CAM files. Even small modifications may require complete recreating of the CAM files. All changes will be billed at the hourly rate quoted. To ensure the most economical process, please take the time to verify that the CAD file is what you want.
Costs
All following rates have min 1/2h charge. Design and g-code time is rated $50/hr. Machine and operator time is rated at $80/hr, $100/hr for milling
Aluminum.
Payments
For design only projects a weekly payment is required based upon agreed rates. For design and fabrication material payment is due in advance of machining and significant design fees will be paid in full before commencement of fabrication. Final payment due in full on pick-up or delivery. We accept PayPal, debit and credit cards.
Storage Fees
We do not have the capacity to store completed projects or large volumes of parts. Arrangements need to be made for pick-up or delivery within 2 days of completion of projects or large parts after which there will be a DAILY STORAGE FEE charged as stated in the estimate given before work commences.
